Obituary

Jarvis L. Ehart, 65, Granville, also formerly of Roseville, MN, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, in his home.

Jarvis was born August 16, 1942, in Minot, ND, the son of Orlo and Violette (Hunt) Ehart. He was raised and educated in Granville, where he graduated as valedictorian of his class in 1960. He continued his education at Minot State University graduating with majors in chemistry, math, and physics and a minor in German. Jarvis attended Graduate School at the University of North Dakota (UND) in Grand Forks.

Following his education, he was employed at the Computer Center at UND for a number of years. In 1974, he became the Director of the Computer Center for United Hospital in Grand Forks until 1981, when he moved to the Mental Health Hospital in Jamestown to serve in the same position.

Jarvis moved to Roseville, MN in 1983, where he was employed by Comten, Inc. as a software engineer until his retirement in 2001, when he returned to Granville, ND.

Though in retirement, Jarvis remained active in the community of Granville. He supported the Senior Citizens Center and the McHenry County Food Pantry. He enjoyed hunting and nature photography. He was a member of Hope Congregational Church in Granville. He was also a McHenry County Delegate to the North Dakota Silver Haired Assembly.

Jarvis was a member of the Masons for over 40 years. He was a Past Master of the Ashlar Lodge #69 in Granville and was also a member of the Star In The West #33 in Minot and was currently serving as the Deputy Grand Master of District 3 in ND. Jarvis belonged to the Minot Valley of the Scottish Rite Bodies, serving as Master of Kodosh. He was bestowed the national honor of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH) in February 2008. Jarvis was a member of the Kem Temple of the Shrine in Grand Forks and Minot Shrine Club, where he was currently serving as the Assistant Shrine Hospital Representative.

Jarvis was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.

Surviving family includes: Brother: Orlo (Bob) Ehart (Nancy Rachman,) Silver Spring, MD and numerous cousins and countless friends.

Jarvis was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral: Friday, March 7, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in Hope Congregational Church, Granville, ND;
Interment:
Granville Community Cemetery, Graville, ND;
Visitation:
Thursday, March 6, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
