Jarid Neal Hedstrand, 24, Minot, formerly of Sawyer, died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in a Minot hospital from complications related to an automobile accident.

Jarid was born on May 11, 1991 in Minot to Darwin and Kathy (Francis) Hedstrand. He was raised and educated in Sawyer and graduated from Sawyer High School in 2009. He was the Homecoming King of the school in 2009.

As a student he was employed on a pheasant farm and at the Sawyer Feed Lot. After graduation he worked at Gratech as a mechanic. More recently he was employed as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator at Dig-It-Up Backhoe. Jarid was seriously injured in an automobile accident in April of 2015.

Jarid especially enjoyed camping, fishing, ice fishing, photography and racing. He was a regular at the NoDak Speedway where he helped many of the race car drivers in the pit. Also, he liked working on vehicles in his dad's garage - everything from mechanical work to painting cars.

Jarid's loving family includes his mother: Kathy Francis Hedstrand of Minot, father: Darwin (Flora) Hedstrand of Sawyer, brothers: Chad Hedstrand (Jennie Orr) of Minot and Brad Hedstrand (Samantha Lundy) of Logan, sister: Sydnie Hedstrand of Sawyer, nieces and nephews: Harlow, Tucker and Tobey Hedstrand, Braycen and Paislee Hedstrand, grandparents: Ellen Hedstrand of Sawyer and Earl and Darlene Schlenker of Kulm, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jarid was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Bob and Pat Francis, paternal grandfather: Curtis Hedstrand and cousin: Jerene Vaagen.

Funeral Service: Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sawyer School.
Interment will be in the Sawyer Community Cemetery.
Visitation: Saturday, November 14, 2015 from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
