Janie Marie Gumeringer Lee , 62, Park Rapids, MN formerly of Minot, passed away August 21, 2019 in her home after a long battle with dementia.
Janie Marie (Gumeringer) Lee was born to Edward and Mary Ellen Gumeringer on May 31, 1957 in Rugby, ND. She was raised on the family farm in Esmond, ND as the oldest of six children.
Janie attended Esmond Public School graduating in 1975. She completed her Bachelor degree in Social Work at Minot State University.
On April 22, 1983, she married Brad Lee. They raised their children Michelle and Theodore James (TJ) in Minot, ND where they lived for 29 years. Janie was a social worker and worked at Minot ManorCare for over 20 years.
She enjoyed going to their lake cabin at Van Hook, reading novels and listening to music. Janie loved to cook and bake, especially Kuchen and her famous Chocolate Log Roll. She was usually not found without her favorite treat – Tootsie Rolls. Janie was very creative and artistic.
In 2012, Brad and Janie moved to Park Rapids, MN to their lake home. They enjoyed cruising the lake with family, friends and the dogs and spending time with her grandchildren was always important to her. Faith was a huge part of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Brad Lee of Park Rapids; daughter Michelle Lee of Minot; brothers Gary Gumeringer, Guy Gumeringer, Paul Gumeringer all of Esmond, and sisters Lorrie Thoemke (Jerry) of Fargo and Connie Koenig (Todd) of Roseau, MN; grandchildren Ireland and Lilly Keelan and Corbyn Lee of Minot and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Mary Ellen Gumeringer and son, Theodore James.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2019 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Memorials are preferred for the benefit of her grandson Corbyn.
