Janice K. Shores , 65, Surrey, died Thursday, January 13, 2022, in a Minot hospital.

Janice was born October 29, 1956, in Kansas City, MO the daughter of John and Mildred (Karrick) Hedges. She spent the years of her youth in Kansas City, graduating from Fort Osage High School in 1974 and completing her nursing certification in 1985.

Janice enlisted into the US Army, serving her country as a nurse until her honorable discharge in 1979.

Janice was once united in marriage to Clell Shores. She worked alongside him for the next decade as a truck driver. This union was blessed with a daughter, Kelly and they called Independence, MO home.

Janice settled into her life after being on the road as a mother and started working for a diabetes clinic as an office manager for many years. After the clinic closed, she went to work for AT&T, retiring in 2009 and moving to North Dakota to be near her daughter's family.

Janice's pride and joy was her only daughter Kelly and her granddaughters, Addison and Emily. She spent many years sewing and gem embellishing dance and baton costumes, traveling all over the United States with Kelly who was both a competitive dancer, baton twirler and active in High School Sports. When Kelly went to college, Janice traveled every weekend to Missouri State to watch and support her dancing and her love for being a part of the Pride of Missouri State Color Guard for 4 years. Once Janice moved to North Dakota, she founded her small business; Once Upon A Bow. She treasured each moment she shared with the girls. During retirement she watched Addison and always had grandma's taxi up and going to take her to and from school, dance practice, summer outings and soaking up every moment of grandma duty while Kelly and Aaron worked.  Once Emily arrived in 2015, she did the same. She took both girls out and about and enjoyed each day with them. She never missed a dance competition, performance or ice skating competition thanks to FaceTime and always ensured the girls were spoiled and loved. They truly were her pride and never left a conversation without telling them she loved them to the moon and back.

Janice is survived by her daughter Kelly (Aaron) Pringle, Surrey, ND; grandchildren Addison and Emily Pringle; siblings Alan (Sandi) Hedges of Missouri, Carolyn (Ed) Johnson of Florida and Cathy Leach of Oklahoma along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents John and Mildred Hedges and grandson Zachary Kyle Pringle.
