Janet Mae Scott, 84, Minot, died on Saturday, in her home, following a long battle with breast and bone cancer.
Janet was born on May 25, 1933 in Ellendale, ND to Carlton and Darlene (Rapp) White. She was reared and educated in Fargo and graduated from Fargo High School. As a young adult she was employed as a wrapper in the meat cutting department of Hornbacher's Grocery Store in Fargo. Janet was once married to Glen Kolosky and they made their home in Fargo.
Janet married Herman Scott on June 19, 1960 in Minneapolis, MN. They made their home in Minot where she was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker and Herman was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and Nybakken Body Shop. Later in life, Janet was employed as a hostess at the Elks Lodge and by Miracle Mart Bakery. Herman died on December 11, 1993.
Janet married Myron Anderson on August 18, 2000 in Minot, ND. They had continued to make their home in Minot with Myron being her loving husband and devoted caregiver for the past 17 years.
Janet was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a local birthday club and an avid supporter of the local and national humane societies. She especially enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and was an excellent cook and grandma.
Janet's loving family includes her husband: Myron Anderson; children: Greg (Peggy) Scott of Aberdeen SD, Jacqueline (Ray) Ritacco of Huntington Beach CA and Christie Gutknecht of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren: Jason, Jordan and Angela Scott; Jeri Scott Schulze; Leah Terpstra, Sam White; and Cody, Bryce and Summer Gutknecht; great grandchildren: Emma, Gwyn, Ivy, Kayden and Quincy; brother: Ronald (Susan) White of Placentia CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Herman Scott, son-in-law: Kevin Gutknecht, brother: Larry White and an infant sister.
Celebration of the Life of Janet Scott: Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
