Jane Erber , 98, Minot and formerly of rural Glenburn died on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in a Minot hospital.

Jane Kathryn Whitson was born, with a twin sister, on January 30, 1926 on the family farm in Burt Township of Ward County near Minot to Willmer and Gladys (Matzdorf) Whitson. Her father died when she was 3 years old. They lived in the Berthold area until 1936, then moved to Oregon to join relatives and find work. They later returned to Minot where she graduated from Minot High School in 1944. She was employed at Northern States Power and a local flour mill as a young adult.

Jane married Arnold Erber on April 8, 1945 at Congregational United Church of Christ in Minot. They made their home on a farm in Tatman Township of Ward County where she was an integral part of the farming and dairy operation and raised five children. In their retirement years Jane and Arnold spent the winter months in Tucson, AZ and Mesa, AZ for twelve years. Arnold died on February 18, 2014. Jane moved to Dakota Terrace Apartments in Minot in December of 2014 and most recently resided at Somerset Court.

Jane was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Minot and a former active member of Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church – rural Glenburn where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Glenburn Senior Center, Good Sam RV Club and the Tatman Homemaker's Group. In her younger years she was a 4-H leader. Jane especially enjoyed baking, gardening, and traveling.

Jane's loving family includes her children: Dennis (Karen) Erber of Glenburn, Katherine (Roger) Krienke of Lester Prairie, MN and Carol Matthews of Centerview, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren: Brad, Rod, Brian, Kraig, Vicki, Karla, Mary, Rachel, Patricia, Jeff, Gwen, Ranae, Kim, Amanda and Keith; twenty-two great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Jan Whitson of Mount Vernon WA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, sons: Darrel and John Erber and siblings: Dale Whitson and Jean Schmidt.

Funeral Service: Monday, April 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment will be in the Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Glenburn.
Visitation: Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Public Prayer Service: Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the church.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch.
