James Martin "Jimmy" Ofsthun, 67, lifelong Minot resident died on Friday, July 24, 2015 in his home.
James was born on February 21, 1948 in Minot to Harold and Oveida (Llewellyn) Ofsthun. He was reared in Minot and graduated from Minot High School. As a young adult he was employed by Greenberg Roofing, Hildahl Painting and the North Dakota State Fair.
Jimmy served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 and had a tour of duty in Germany. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Minot where he was employed by Ernie's Concrete Construction for 35 years. He retired due to failing eyesight resulting from glaucoma.
Jimmy was a former member of the Minot Curling Club, served as a photographer for the International World of Sled-dog Racing and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, darts and watching dog-sled racing.
Jimmy's survivors include: siblings: Darlene (Paul) Bergren of Minot, Harold Ofsthun Jr. of Brainerd, John (Dora) Ofsthun of Granville, Richard "Rick" Ofsthun of Minot and Karen (Rory) Hunter of Sanborn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, niece: Tabatha Hunter and great nephew: Paul Farrell.
Celebration of the Life of James "Jimmy" Ofsthun: Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
