James Harold "Jamie" Murphy, 26, Minot, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 in a Minot Hospital from an auto immune disease, while surrounded by his loving family.

Jamie was born July 15, 1993 in Minot to Kathy and Mike Murphy. He arrived in this world 3 weeks early with pneumonia and fought to live, much like he did when he left this world.

Jamie attended Minot Public Schools and graduated from Minot High School in 2012. During his high school years, he worked for Future Builders, doing what he loved – building houses. He became an excellent craftsman at his job. The more power tools he could use, the better. Jamie worked for a time with Saunders Contracting, prior to starting his own company – J's Carpentry. In recent years, he worked on commercial buildings with Hight Construction, which he absolutely loved. During the past couple of summers, Jamie and one of his best friends, Cameron Hanson, built decks at various homes in and around Minot. Jamie had recently met the love of his life, Taylor Vendsel.

Jamie was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot and Trinity Lutheran Church, Esmond.  He had been an active member in the FFA during his high school years. After graduating, he continued with the FFA Alumni Association, where he built and donated kids picnic tables to be auctioned off at their annual benefit. He loved building things with his hands, but his favorite was decks. In fact, he made two decks at his mom's house that she absolutely loved and will always treasure.

Jamie enjoyed spending time talking to just about anyone about a number of topics. He was a young man with an old soul. That is what made Taylor and Jamie the perfect couple. They were kindred souls. He will be deeply missed and loved by all.

Jamie is survived by: his parents, Kathy Jensen, Mike (Sari) Murphy both of Minot; brother, Lee Murphy, Minot; grandparents, Wayne & Fay Jensen, formerly of Esmond, now of Rugby; Roger & Kathyrn Murphy, Minot; girlfriend, Taylor Vendsel, Minot; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jamie was preceded in death by his great- grandparents; along with his great uncles and aunts.
