James E. Moran , 72, Minot, formerly of Portland Oregon, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in a Minot hospital.

Jim was born July 2, 1938, in Hopkinsville, KY, the son of Eddy and Stella (Johnson) Moran. He enlisted into the US Marine Corps on July 12, 1959, honorably serving his country until his discharge on August 7, 1959.

He was blessed to be united in marriage to Joyce Johnson on June 15, 1956, in Vancouver, WA. They lived most of their professional lives in Oregon, where Jim worked construction for a number of years until his retirement. They moved to Minot in 1998, to be closer to Joyce's family roots of the Kenmare/Sherwood area.

Jim enjoyed reading, sports, and western movies.

Surviving family includes his loving wife of 45 years, Joyce, Minot.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

At Jim's request no formal service will be held.
Memorials in his name are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter or to an organization of the donor's choice.
