James (Jim) Arthur Matesky , 79, died peacefully at home July 7, 2023.
Jim was born August 26, 1943 to John and Tressa (Sablacke) Matesky in Superior, Wisconsin. It was there that Jim spent his childhood and attended school. After graduating high school, Jim joined the United States Navy serving from 1961 to 1965. In his time serving his country, Jim trained at the US Naval School and became a Boilermen Class B. It is this training that led him to his career post-service as a commercial boiler engineer at various companies in the St. Paul, MN area. Jim stayed in this profession until his retirement.
After his military service, Jim married and from that union, had two daughters, Victoria and Lisa. When this union ended, some years later he met his wife, Linda. Jim and Linda (Turnbull) married in 1991 and he became stepfather to David Turnbull.
Jim and Linda enjoyed spending their retirement with their many friends in St. Paul, MN. In 2019, Jim and Linda relocated to Minot, ND to be closer to David and his family.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John and Tressa of Superior, WI, and mother-in-Law, Elizabeth (Fischer) Turnbull.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Turnbull) Matesky, son, David (Valerie) Turnbull of Minot, ND, daughters, Victoria (Taf) of Leeds, UK and Lisa (Billy) Fischer of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Donavan, Cassandra, Hayden, Kayla, Dana and Piper; great grandchildren, Autumn Rose and Liam.
Public Graveside Service with Military Honors: Monday, July 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Section 28 of Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
