James F. Lincoln, 83, Minot, formerly of Gresham, Oregon, died Friday, January 11, 2008 in a Minot Hospital
James was born October 13, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of James F. Sr. and Pearl (Pool) Lincoln. He was raised and educated in the Toledo area and was inducted into the US Army on March 18, 1943 at Toledo. After Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri Jim was sent to Europe, where he served in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. After the invasion, Jim was attached to the 3rd Armored Division under General George Patton. During his Army tour, he earned the American Theater Ribbon, Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Jim was honorably discharged and returned to Portland, Oregon, where he leased and operated a number of Gas Stations in that area. He was once married to Betty Pollex. He went to work for Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Portland, where he employed for more than 30 years.
Jim was united in marriage to Helen (Roerick) Grad on August 31, 1979 at Vancouver, Washington. They made their home in Gresham, Oregon for a number of years until moving to Minot in 2006 when they purchased a home here to be nearer his wife's family. Helen passed away on November 15, 2007. Jim was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the VFW Post of Portland. While living in Oregon, Jim and Helen enjoyed camping.
Surviving family includes : son: James F Lincoln, Jr., Mount View, CA, Daughters: Pamela Lynch and Debbie Shuell, both of Oregon. Step-son: Richard Grad, Portland; Step-Grandchildren: Andrew Grad and Tabitha Grad, One Step-Great Grandchild: Marcus Grad.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen and two brothers and six sisters.
Funeral service
: Friday, January 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

: Thursday from 2:00-7:00pm in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
