James "Jim" Simonson , 52, Minot, died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in a Minot hospital.

Jim was born November 25, 1970, in Minot, North Dakota to Charles and Jeannette (Dunn) Simonson. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1989. During his senior year, Jim was a member of the MHS boys' golf team which won the state championship. He continued his education at the University of Northern Colorado and Minot State University.

Jim enjoyed his spare time with friends and family, golfing, fishing at Van Hook, and loved the challenge of trivia. One of his favorite topics to study was US military history.

Jim is survived by his mother, Jeannette (Dunn-Waswick) Simonson; siblings, Paul (Vickie) Simonson, Mary Simonson, Tim (Pala) Waswick, Terry Waswick, Tracy Waswick, and Lori (Stephen) Plank.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; brothers, David Simonson and Todd Waswick.

Memorial Gathering: Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the VFW or the DAV.
