Obituary

James J. Hamilton, 92, of Lake Metigoshe, ND and formerly of Minot, died January 18, 2018 at a Minot hospital.

Jim was born October 20, 1925 to James W. and Lou M. (Mabin) Hamilton in Minot, North Dakota. He attended school in Minot before enlisting in the Navy in 1942. Jim's service included both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He was a Life Member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion, Last Man's Club, the 40 et 8 and the Bottineau Am Vets. After he moved to Lake Metigoshe, he was an active volunteer with the local Am Vets Club.

Jim married Lois Lawson in 1952. They made their home in Minot where, Jim worked as an electrician and they raised their four children. Jim was a proud member of the IBEW Local 714. In the 1980s they retired to their lake home at Lake Metigoshe where they spent the rest of their lives. They were married 62 years at the time of Lois' death. They both loved the lake and had many friends there.

He is survived by his children Debra (John) Munoz, Patricia (Dale) Tinjum, James W. (Candy) Hamilton and Michael (Sue) Hamilton, his sister-in-law, Gayle Lawson, six grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, his parents, step-parent, brother, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law.

Per Jim's wishes there will be no funeral, however, there will be a book-signing on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from Noon to 3:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

The family prefers memorial to the donor's choice of organization.
