James L. Allen, 94, Minot, died Friday, January 27, 2023 in a Minot hospital.

James was born December 13, 1928, in Miami, Oklahoma to James and Anna (Murphyn) Allen. He grew up and attended school in Iowa.

James was united in marriage to Dorothy Stegall on April 20, 1944. They made their home in Council Bluffs and were blessed with four children.

James spent his early working years in construction as a carpet installer. He felt the call of our Lord to the ministry. He worked as a Bible Worker for the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the remainder of his life sharing literature of His purpose. James also provided jail ministry to many in need.

They moved to Minot in 1980, residing there until 2014, when they moved with family to Tennessee. Dorothy passed away later in 2014 and he returned to North Dakota with family, living in Stanley until his health forced a move to Minot in 2021.

James was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Minot.

James is survived by his children James (Annie) Allen, Decatur, TN, Nona (Marvin) Kassner, Minot, ND, Joel (Pam) Allen, Coleville, WA and Michelle (John) Depezynski, Lacy WA; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, sisters Madge, Mildred, Hildred, Dorothy, Annalee and Peggy and brothers David and Raymond.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
