Obituary

Jacqueline J. Halverson, 73, Lincoln, formerly of Burlington N.D., died Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at St. Alexius Medical Center, with her loving husband of 51 years at her side..

Jacqueline was born July 26, 1935, in Groveton, New Hampshire to Leonard and Lila (Alger) Potter. She was raised in Lancaster and Groveton N.H., where she received her education at Lancaster High School.

Jackie met her future husband, Roger Halverson Sr., while he was stationed with the Air Force at Westover AFB, Mass., and she was employed as a factory worker in the garment industry in Holyoke, Mass. They were united in marriage on November 8, 1957, in Holyoke. Jacqueline and Roger made their life in the military for the early part of their marriage, traveling and living in various states across the U.S. including Wyoming, Michigan, and North Dakota. After retiring from the Air Force they made their home in Burlington N.D. in 1976. They moved to Lincoln, N.D. in 2007. Jacqueline was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burlington, and a past member of the Minot Retired Military Auxiliary.

Jackie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and could most often be found sitting in her chair watching her "programs" on television. She never missed her soap operas, and had an internal timer that told her when Nancy Grace was on TV. As her health declined she was unable to do the grocery shopping or meal preparations, but no magazine or news paper was spared from her clipping coupons and recipes. It was well known in the family that once she got a hold of a magazine there would not be much left of it when she was done. As far as magazines go, Jackie was a long time fan of the National Enquirer. She believed it to be true if she read it in the Enquirer. She passed her love of gossip magazines on to her daughter, Karyn, and granddaughter, Dawn. She loved to wear red and was never fully dressed without earrings, lipstick, nail polishand a broach. We love you and will always miss you.
