Obituary

Jack Wayne Jensen , 74, 1510 16th St. SW # 104 - Minot died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, in a Minot hospital.

Jack was born October 14, 1932, in Minot to Walter and Marie (Bryson) Jensen. He was raised on a farm near Westhope, and graduated from Westhope High School in 1950. Jack entered the U.S. Army in October of 1952 and was honorably discharged in August of 1954. Jack completed two years of college at the N.D. School of Forestry and two years at Minot State Teacher's College, graduating in 1959 with a B.S. in Secondary Education. He taught social studies in Max and was also the basketball coach for five years.

Jack was employed as a pharmaceutical sales representative for E.R. Squibb and Sons from 1963 to 1969 and as a hospital purchasing agent by St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot from 1969 until 1974. He was employed as an administrator at the Turtle Lake Hospital from 1974 until 1976 before being employed at Midland Hospital Supply as a territory sales representative in North Dakota and Montana until retiring in 1992. Jack was currently a substitute teacher for area schools.

Jack was united in marriage to Daveda Brandt on December 27, 1954, in Willow City.

Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, playing cards, and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Eagle's Aerie, American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge, North American Hunting Club, and Wildlife Forever. He was a former member of the Turtle Lake Lions Club, Minot Kiwanis Club, NRA, and Bell School Board. Jack was a longtime member of the Minot State University Beaver Booster organization and served on its board of directors.

Surviving family includes: Wife of 52 years: Daveda Jensen, Minot; Daughter: Debra (Jim) Kraft, Turtle Lake; Sons: Kevin (Cathy) Jensen, Mandan, Mitch Jensen and (friend Gail Ogden), Minot; Grandchildren: Chad Kraft, Turtle Lake, Reid (Jacque) Kraft, Victor, ID, Eric Jensen, serving in the National Guard, Tampa, FL and his fiancé Amanda Wolf, Bismarck, Tyler and Conlan Jensen, Mandan, Tracy (Ryan) Elliott, Warner Robbins, GA, Heidi Jensen, Grand Forks; Great-Grandchildren: Abbigail and Isabelle Elliott Warner Robbins, GA; Sister: Kathleen Young, Chula Vista, CA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and brother: Rod Jensen

Funeral Service: Sunday, January 14, 2007, at 3:00 p.m., in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot;
Interment:
North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND;
Visitation:
Saturday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot;
