Isabel A. Bolstad, 96, Minot, formerly of Norwich, ND, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, in a Minot nursing home.

Isabel was born December 16, 1913, in Norwich, ND, the daughter of Alfred and Gertrude (Knutson) Lee. She was raised and educated in Norwich, where she attended public school, graduating in 1932.

Isabel was united in marriage to Andrew Bolstad on June 19, 1937, in Norwich, ND. They farmed and raised livestock in the Norwich area until Andrew's death on June 25, 1950.

Isabel continued to live in Norwich, remaining active in the community. She was an active member of the Norwich Lutheran Church. She served as the church organist for a number of years, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA). Isabel was treasurer of the Norwich Township for 30 years, the clerk of the Norwich School Board and served as the assistant postmaster in Norwich for over 30 years. She was active in 4-H with her children, serving as a leader. Isabel was a member of the Norwich Election Board for over 30 years and served as chairwoman of the Republican Party in Norwich. She became a resident of Trinity Homes in January 2001.

She was a wonderful cook and baker. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans, working in the garden, and mowing the lawn with her riding John Deere mower. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who shared in her life.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Ilene (Robert) Johnson, Fargo, ND; son, James (Burdette) Bolstad, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Cheryl (Michael) Post, Fargo, ND, Keith (Laurie) Johnson, Minnetrista, MN, Janice "JJ" (Chad) Svenby, Fargo, ND, Janet Bolstad, Minot and Mark Bolstad, Bemidji, MN; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Micaela, John, Madison and Emily Post; Jacob, Elijah and Jonah Svenby; Luke Johnson; Tristan and Sydney Bolstad; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Isabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Earl Lee.

Funeral service: Friday, June 18, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Norwich Lutheran Church, Norwich, ND;
Interment: Norwich Lutheran Cemetery, Norwich, ND;
Visitation: Thursday, June 17, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: Memorials are preferred to Norwich Lutheran Cemetery.
