Irma Jean Meth, 88, of Minot died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Granville Elder Care. Irma Edinger was born on August 31, 1924 in Cathay, ND to Edward and Annie (Reddig) Edinger. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Cathay High School in 1943. She attended Fargo Business College in Fargo, ND. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Standard Oil Company and then in the Department of Supervised Study (Correspondence School) at North Dakota Agricultural College (later re-named NDSU).

On June 18, 1949 Irma married Orville H. Meth at Cathay Baptist Church, Cathay, ND. While Orville attended North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls, SD, she was secretary to Dr. George A. Lang, President of the Seminary. After Orville's ordination in 1952, they served in Odessa, WA, Stockton, CA, Venturia, ND, Turtle Lake, ND and Elgin, IA. In 1972, they moved to Bismarck, ND where Orville served as Chaplain of the Baptist Home for 14 years. During this time, Irma was active in Women's Ministries at Bismarck Baptist Church. In 2000, the Meth's moved to Minot where they became members of First Baptist Church.

Irma is survived by her husband of 63 years Orville, Minot; daughters Debby (Jerry) Weimer, Modesto CA, Esther (Dean) Redington, Minot, ND; son Daniel (Rebecca) Meth, Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Coral Trochmann, Fargo, ND; and three brothers, Wallace (Carol) Edinger, New Rockford, ND, Dennis (Moneen) Edinger, Cathay, ND and Richard (Judy) Edinger, Fergus Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Myra Boelke and Alyce Schlittenhardt; granddaughter Irma Mary Jean Clark.

Celebration of Life service for Irma Meth will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Minot. Graveside Service at Germantown Baptist Cemetery, rural Fessenden, ND, 3:30 p.m. Visitation, Thomas Family Funeral Home, Monday, October 15, 2012, 4:00 7:30 p.m., prayer service, 7:30 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the North American Baptist Heritage Commission or First Baptist Church Future Expansion Fund.
