Ione Loy Klimpel , 80, West Fargo, ND and formerly of Minot and Sawyer, died Monday, December 7, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family and hospice.

Ione was born June 3, 1940 at Minot, North Dakota the daughter of Irvin and Wilma (Carpenter) Teigen. She was raised at Truax Mines southwest of Velva, ND. The family moved to Velva, where Ione graduated from Velva High School in 1959.

Ione met Vernon Klimpel and they were united in marriage on September 25, 1960. They made their home in Sawyer, where they were blessed with two daughters. Along with raising their family, Ione was employed with Feist Locker plant in Velva and Dakota Meats in Minot. Ione and Vernon moved to Minot in 1982. She was employed with Montana Dakota Utilities (MDU) from 1981 until 2001, when she retired after 20 years with the company. After the flood of 2011, they moved to West Fargo.

Ione was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. She enjoyed bowling in early years, reading, fishing, playing pinochle along with spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ione's loving family includes , husband of 60 years, Vernon; children, Tammy (Bruce) Farmer of Minot and Terri (Brent) Rosendahl of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Amanda Beyer, Justen (Elizabeth) Farmer, Joshua (Amber) Farmer, Blaine Rosendahl, Makayla (Seth) Ziegler; great grandchildren, Aaden Beyer, Makenna Rosendahl; her beloved dogs, Squirt and Ali; siblings, Beverly (Mike) Ballantyne of Oak Grove, MO, Donna (Robert) Drab, of Hephizabah, GA, sister in laws, Linda (Eldon) Schlosser, of Bismarck, ND, Anna (LaVern) Tofstad, Thief River Falls, MN; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ione was preceded in death: by her parents; mother and father in law, Clarence & Emma Klimpel; sister, Mavis (Bill) Netzloff; brothers, Manny Teigen, Lloyd "Masey" (Connie) Teigen; Duane (Josephine) Teigen and sister in law, Leona (Gordon) Johnson.

Funeral service : Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. Please observe social distancing guidelines and masks are required.

Interment: St. Peter's Cemetery, Rural Sawyer, ND.
Public Visitation : Thursday, December 10 ^th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or St. Peters Cemetery, Sawyer.
