Inez Knoop , 92, Minot, died Saturday, March 6, 2021, in a Minot assisted living center.
Inez Knoop was born on June 26, 1928, in Ashley, ND, the middle daughter of Ed and Emma (Wendland) Schumacher. Inez grew up on the family farm and later moved into Ashley where she finished high school and then began a medical career as a nurse's aide for many years. Inez was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She worked at the Hazen, ND hospital and later met her future husband, George Knoop, while he was working on the Garrison Dam. They were married on January 6, 1949, and moved to Minneapolis, MN, where George was attending Brown Institute, learning the trade of a railroad telegrapher. He began his employment with Great Northern Railroad, which moved the family from Noonan to Kindred and later to New Rockford, where Inez continued her medical work. The family later moved to Minot, where she worked for Trinity Hospital while raising and caring for the family. They were longtime members of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot.
George and Inez enjoyed camping and traveling especially their trip to Germany and Denmark. George passed away on October 23, 1993.
Inez also enjoyed family times, working crossword puzzles, ceramics and painting. She was also involved in the quilting group at Zion Lutheran.
She later moved into Edgewood Vista, where she was provided excellent care the remaining days of her life. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Edgewood for their care and concern provided to our family.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Benno Brauer, and sister Darlene Kaul, brother-in-law Walter Knoop, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Randy Novak.
