May Ortmann, 84, Rural Sawyer died on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 on arrival at a Bismarck Hospital.
Ileen May Ortmann was born on September 4, 1935 in Chaseley, ND to Ernest and Lydia (Heinle)
Baltrusch. She was raised on a farm near Bowdon, ND attended rural schools, graduated from Bowdon High School and later received specialized training at a cosmetology school in Fargo.
May married Walter Ortmann on January 5, 1964 at the Church of God in Bowdon. They made their home on the Ortmann Family Farm near Sawyer for the past 56 years where they raised small grains, and various livestock.
May's number one priority in life was caring for her husband and children, but in her free time she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and ceramics. Later in life, she especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren even if it meant helping dig worms or accepting flower "arrangements" picked without permission from her gardens.
May's loving family includes her husband of 56 years: Walter; children: Clayton (Tina) Ortmann of Rich Hill MO, William (Cindy) Ortmann of Bismarck, Tarry (Nicki) Ortmann of Karlsruhe and Tammy (Steve) Uskiewicz of rural Sawyer; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings: Clarabelle Ortmann of Minot, Jerome Baltrusch of Garrison MN and Varnal (Cheryl) Baltrusch of Tucson; sister-in-law: Dorothy Baltrusch of Harvey and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
May was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Donald Baltrusch and brother-in-law: David Ortmann.
Celebration of the Life of May Ortmann: Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Interment will be in the Church of God Cemetery - rural Benedict.
Visitation: Monday, December 30, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Church of God Cemetery Fund, rural Benedict.
