Ila Marion Anderson, 94, Eden Prairie, MN, and formerly of Minot and Kenmare, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in an Eden Prairie Assisted Living Facility.
Marion was born October 14, 1922 at Coulee, North Dakota the daughter of Adolph and Sue (Odland) Johnson. She lived with her family at Kenmare and McIntosh, MN before graduating from Minot High School in 1940. During World War II, she lived and worked in the Seattle, Washington area to assist with the building of planes for the war effort.
She returned to North Dakota and was employed as a clerk at Wemark Drug Store in Kenmare and later as a teller at American State Bank in Minot. Marion was united in marriage to David L. Anderson on June 22, 1949 at Kenmare. She and David made their home in Minot throughout the years, where they raised their three children. Marion and David moved to the Minneapolis area several years ago to be nearer their daughter, Susan.
Marion was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. She enjoyed reading and going on long road trips through the mountains of Montana and Idaho to visit her grandchildren.
Marion is survived by: her husband of 67 years, David; children, Mark (Janice) Anderson, Moscow, ID, Tom (Molly) Anderson, Milwaukee, WI, Susan Anderson, Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren, Ben (Erin Sterling) Anderson, Eric Anderson, both of Seattle, WA; great granddaughter, Ramona Sterling-Anderson.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Isabel Whelchel, brothers, Wallace, Roger and Adoph "Aub" Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 12, 2016 at The Good Samaritan Society Ambassador, New Hope, MN.
A graveside service will take place in the Summer of 2017 at Lakeside Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
