Howard Galen Quammen , 89, Minot, formerly of Leeds, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at a Velva Care Center.

Howard was born on May 17, 1933 in Leeds, North Dakota, the son of Herman and Inga (Nord) Qvammen. He was raised on the family farm near Leeds and graduated from Leeds High School.

On February 6, 1954 Howard was united in marriage to Beatrice Zacher. They made their home in Leeds where they raised their four children. In 2011 they moved to Minot.

Throughout his years, he had several jobs, including Service Stations, Larson Implement, Farmers Union Oil (York) and after retirement he worked for a couple of farmers in the Leeds area.

Howard was a member of Leeds Lutheran Church. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with family either fishing or attending races. When he wasn't going to races, you could find him in front of the TV watching NASCAR or outside cooking something on the grill.

Howard's loving family includes his wife of 68 years, Beatrice, Minot; children, Rita Streifel, Minot; Hal Quammen, Minot; Renee (Lynn) Haagenson, Leeds; Jason Quammen, Minot; grandchildren, Heather (Jeff) Mitchel, Granville; Ashley (Terry) Peterson, Velva; Brent Fettig, Sawyer; Haley (Brook) Hermanson, Minot; Jamie (Melanie) Haagenson, Grafton; Melissa (Dan) Pavek, Devils Lake;  great-grandchildren, Ian Jelsing,  Abbey, Pavyn and Madaket Peterson,  Oceahna and Mira King, Liston and Madilyn Hermanson, Darian DeSmith, Jaden and Tucker Haagenson, Hunter, Jax and Cooper Pavek; several nieces and nephews.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Jerry and sister-in-law Sadie Qvammen, sister Ardis and brother-in-law Odell Ziebarth, son-in-law Cordell Streifel, and daughter-in-law Julie Quammen.

Celebration of Life Service :  11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment :  North Prairie Cemetery, Leeds in the spring/summer of 2023.
