Howard E. Brown , 78, Minot, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 in a Minot nursing home.

Howard E. Brown was born on November 28, 1934, to Earl and Mabel (Tegmeier) Brown near Berthold. He was raised and educated in Berthold and as a teenager began working for Great Northern Railroad. In 1995, he retired from BNSF Railroad following 42 years of faithful service to the company in the track department.

He married Rose Dokken Napora on October 19, 1993. They made their home in Minot. Howard enjoyed yard work, eating out and spending time at Strawberry Lake.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot, the Minot Moose Club and the National Association Of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees.

Howard is survived by wife, Rosie, stepsons, Robert (Kristin) Napora of Belleville, WI and Richard (Jen) Napora of Minot and one grandson, Xander Napora of Belleville, WI, brother Harold (Linda) Brown, Fargo, sisters, Vivian (Ken) Keyes and Marion Eschenko of Minot and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers Earl Francis Brown, Willard Brown and infant Gerald Brown.

Funeral Service: Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Minot.
