Hilda Sass, 92, Minot, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in a Granville adult care center.
Hilda was born May 10, 1921, in Turner, Michigan, the daughter of Jacob and Emily (Thaut) Dewald. She was reared in Michigan and educated in the Twining School System.
Hilda was united in marriage to Emil Sass on May 10, 1941 in Michigan. They made their home in East Tawas, while Emil was employed as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic. Hilda was a homemaker, providing for all her family's needs.
Following Emil's death on August 27, 1996, she lived in Michigan until moving to North Dakota in 2006, to be nearer her daughter and her family as a resident of Brentmoor Assisted Living.
Hilda was a life member of the Baptist faith and held a position on the Board of Regents through Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting and reading. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.
Her loving family includes, grandchildren, Kenneth (Maria) Osborne, Las Vegas, NV and Jonathan (Anisa) Osborne, Topeka, KS; great-grandchildren, Justice, Winter, Thorne and Alexander Osborne; son-in-law, Kenneth Osborne, Topeka, KS; sisters, Adeline Ridenour of Ohio and Burniece Metcalf of Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sharon Osborne, sisters, Ferdinand Ott, Rose Koysch, Katherine Nichski, Erma Nichols and Esther Woodward and brothers, Jacob and Clarence Dewald.
Graveside services will be held in the Spring of 2014 at Cedar Valley Cemetery, Maple Ridge, MI.
Memorials are preferred to entities dedicated to Alzheimer's/Dementia Research.
