Hilda Wilhelmina Farstad, 80, Minot and formerly of Velva and Ryder died on Sunday, October 3, 2010 in a Minot hospital.
Hilda was born on August 26, 1930 on the family farm near Krem, North Dakota to John and Christina (Buchfinck) Kruckenberg. She was reared and educated in the Pick City and Hazen areas. As a young adult she assisted on the family farm and was employed in Stanton.
Hilda married Archie Farstad on March 28, 1948 in Stanton. They made their home near Pick City, and in Fargo and Ryder before settling in Velva where they lived for 40 years. While residing in Velva she was employed at the local grocery store and drug store. They moved to Minot in October of 1999. Archie died on December 1, 1999.
Hilda was a longtime member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church Velva and was currently a very active member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church Minot and its Merry Circle. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Rebekah Lodge in Ryder and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church Ryder. She especially enjoyed oil painting, sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Hilda's loving family includes her children: Craig Farstad of Fergus Falls, MN and Cheryl Farstad of Minot; daughter-in-law: Kathleen Farstad of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren: Amanda Goodman, Kyle Farstad, Joseph (Hayley) Farstad and Samuel (Amy) Farstad; great grandchildren: Larissa, Lilly Anna and Luke and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Cary, sisters: Edna, Ida, Alma, Esther and Elsie and brothers: Emil, Edwin, George, Herbert, Walker, Erwin and Benjamin.
Funeral Service:
Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Bread of Life Lutheran Church Minot.
Intermen
t: Sunset Memorial Gardens Minot.
Visitation:
Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to Bread of Life Lutheran Church or to an organization of the donor's choice.
