Helen Marie Welsh, 82, Minot, died Monday, February 6, 2017 in a Minot Hospital.

Helen was born February 8, 1934 in Renville Township of Bottineau County, North Dakota the daughter of Helmer and Marie (Bly) Jacobson. She was raised and educated at Renville Consolidated Country School, until her family moved to Minot in 1947, when she was 13 years old. Helen graduated from Minot High school in 1951. During her younger years, she was employed as a waitress at the "Car Hop" for a time and later at the Woolworths Department Store.

Helen was united in marriage to Donald Welsh on September 20, 1952 in Minot. Following their marriage, they made their home in Minot, before moving to the Brooks Addition in 1956, where they raised their 7 children and lived throughout the years. Helen assisted her husband at Lane Sheet Metal as a secretary and did Daycare for her neighbors' children, along with her grandchildren in her home. Donald died on March 3, 2008.

Helen was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Faith. She enjoyed listening to polka music, reading, doing crossword puzzles, traveling to see her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her loving family includes , children, Arland Welsh, Minot, Audie (Dori) Welsh, Pinedale, WY, Kerrie Welsh, Minot, Roger (Michelle) Welsh, Minot, Debbie (Jim) Blais, Denver, CO; Kim Welsh (Jim Harvey), Beaufort, NC, Dawn (Christopher) Romfo, Lake Metigoshe, ND; grandchildren: Heather Staley, Tyler Welsh, Jeremy Williams, James Williams, Amanda Sanders, Travis Sponsels, Shawna Sponsels, Jillian Harvey, Karley Meyer, Kendra Meyer, Cayden Romfo, Justin Welsh, Brandon Welsh, Ashley Welsh and Amber Bernsdorf; great grandchildren: Kelsey, McKenzie, Haley, Alicia, Tyler, Andrea, Allison, Junior, Kobie, Tate, Kirstin, Keena, Peyton, Breanne, Brenna, Katie and Treyvon and great great grandchild: Raelynn; brother, Orlin Jacobson, Lisbon, ND; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 55 years, Don; grandson, Michael Scott Sponsel; sister in law, Shirley Jacobson.

Funeral service : Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kingdom hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, February 10th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In Lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to Trinity Cancer Care Center.
