Helen Hoffert, 87, Minot, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, in a Minot nursing home.
Helen was born January 30, 1930, in Rugby, ND to Michael and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Klein. She grew up and was educated near Balta, ND. She assisted her family on the farm following the completion of her education.
Helen was united in marriage to Peter Hoffert on September 29, 1948, in Balta, ND. They farmed for a couple years near Rolette, ND. They spent the rest of their working years in communities in ND and Oregon. They moved to Harvey in 1973, where they owned and operated the Harvey Bottle Shop for 10 years. They retired in 1983 and moved to Minot. They spent winters in Yuma, Arizona.
Helen was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, and was an active volunteer at the food pantry. She was a past member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Harvey and was part of the Catholic Daughters of America while a member of the parish. Helen also was past member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Aerie of Minot.
Helen enjoyed traveling and found enjoyment in a good book. She will be missed by all who were blessed to share in her life.
Her surviving family includes, children, Charlotte Hanenberg, Minot, Glen Hoffert, Minot and Don (Cynthia) Hoffert, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Denise (Neil) Austin, Troy (Katrina) Hanenberg, Kellie (Scott) Snyder, Sara Schmeets, Aaron (Bethany) Hoffert and Emily (Richard) Daniels; great-grandchildren, Trever, Matthew and Alex Austin, Sierra Hanenberg, Jacob Reimche, Emma Green and Noah Garcia, Kaden Schmeets, Bennett, Cora and Eva Hoffert and Easton, Adelyn and Brienne Daniels; siblings, Edward Klein, Rugby, ND, Ray (Bertha) Klein, Minot, ND, James (Arlene) Klein, Moorhead, MN and Dennis (Georgeian) Klein, Rugby, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Peter, daughter, Cynthia Schmeets, an infant sister, and siblings, Clara Vetsch and Ken Klein.
Mass of Christian Burial:
10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment:
St. Cecilia Cemetery, Harvey, ND (Spring)
Visitation
will be held one hour prior to the start of the Mass at the church.
