IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Heather Kathleen
Capwell
February 1, 1987 – January 1, 2021
Heather Kathleen Capwell-Mangum, 33, of White Earth, ND, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2021.
Heather was the beloved wife of Zachary Mangum and loving mother of their son, Joseph. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Glenn and Patricia (Gibbs) Capwell, and was raised in Riverhead and Bloomfield, New York.
It was love-at-first-sight when Heather and Zachary met as teenagers, and their shared sense of adventure and quest for a more meaningful life led them to North Dakota. Always an avid photographer, Heather excelled at capturing the essence of the people and landscape of her new home on the Great Plains.
Heather opened her kind, gentle, and loving heart to all who knew her. She felt deep satisfaction in caring for and helping the ill and those in need, yet it was through marriage and motherhood that Heather found her greatest joy and fulfillment in life. She dedicated herself, even throughout her long and difficult illness, to the happiness and well-being of her family.
Heather is survived by her husband Zachary and son Joseph, both of White Earth; her mother Patricia (Robert Polito) Capwell, brother John (Justine) Capwell, sister Sonja Capwell, all of New York, and sister Julie (Nate) Lundquist from Minnesota; mother-in-law Cynthia Mangum; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her father and grandparents.
Heather's husband and son wish to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to all of their family and friends for their love, prayers, compassion, support, and countless acts of kindness during Heather's long illness and upon her death. In particular, they thank Julie and Nate Lundquist and their family for the love and care they gave Heather during her stays with them while receiving treatment; Joan and Darren Gohrick of McGregor and the Wolla family of Tioga for their unwavering support and generosity; and their dear friends, Chris and Jessica Perkins.
A memorial service in celebration of Heather's life will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor, North Dakota. In lieu of flowers or for anyone wishing to do so, please consider a donation in Heather's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
