Obituary

Hazel Stromberg, 58, Bowbells, formerly of Rugby and Hurdsfield, ND died Saturday, September 3, 2011, in a Minot hospital.

Hazel was born August 11, 1953, in Harvey, ND to Henry "Jenks" and Nellie (Engleman) Brakel. She was one of seven children raised on the family farm located south of Hurdsfield, ND. Hazel graduated from Hursdfield High School with the class of 1971.

Hazel was blessed with seven children during her lifetime. She was united in marriage to Stanley Stromberg on July 4, 1984 in San Antonio, TX. They made their home in Rugby, ND from 1984 until 1998, where she operated Hazel's Candy Shack for a time with locations in Rugby and Minot. She specialized in homemade goodies, making gift baskets with "prairie chips" and specialty coffee.

They moved to Granite Shoals, TX in 1998. In addition to her employment as a distribution agent with GT Distributors, she maintained a beautiful yard with a greenhouse. She was known to have two green thumbs along with two green toes.

As a family, they returned back to North Dakota in 2009, settling in Bowbells. Hazel was the clothing manager for Cenex store in Stanley, ND.

Hazel was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby. Hazel enjoyed reading, her pets and spending all of those little moments with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Hazel's surviving family includes: loving husband of 27 years, Stan Stromberg, Bowbells, ND; children, Luvena (Cheyne) Stucker, Phoenix, AZ, Kim (Amber) Seibel, San Antonio, TX; Luke (Danielle) Seibel, Fargo, ND, Matthew (Rebecca Rennich) Seibel, Fargo, ND, Second Lieutenant, Valleen Seibel, stationed at Ft. Hood, TX; Kylie (Mike) Martinez, Granite Shoals, TX and Zane Stromberg, Bowbells, ND; grandchildren, Alyssa "Miss Lissie" and Kade Seibel, Brody Seibel, J.R., Andre, and Samara Seibel and Jesse Ramirez, Genesis and Destiny Seibel and Arianna Martinez; siblings, Ruth (Dan) Krause, Carrol (Doreen) Brakel, Henrietta (Tom) Shuminsky, John (Karen) Brakel, Randy Brakel and Pam (Paul) Hanson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Wayne Bomstad.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Stanley River of Life Church, Stanley, ND.
There will be no reviewal however, family and friends are invited to sign a memorial register book on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
