Hazel Mary Rasmussen, 97, lifelong Minot resident died on Sunday, June 12, 2016 in a Minot nursing home.

Hazel was born on December 2, 1918 in Minot to Welcome A. and Bird T. (Acker) Beardsley. She was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1936. Hazel was employed as a legal secretary for many years primarily by the Eaton Law Firm.

Hazel was a very dedicated volunteer and charter member with the Souris Valley Humane Society and served as secretary of the board of directors for several years. She was an advocate for all animals everywhere.

Hazel is survived by her very good friend: Caleen "Cal" ("Lenny") Larson and their family of Minot and longtime family friend: Laura (David) Rendahl of Devils Lake.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Curtis; sisters: Grace and Ida Pearl "Girly" and an infant brother: Claude.

Celebration of the Life of Hazel Rasmussen: Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Trinity Homes Chapel.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Sunday from noon to 3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization concerned with the welfare of animals or to the Second Story Club of Minot.
