Harvey Fitchner, 82, Portal, died Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in a Minot Hospital.

Harvey was born on March 16, 1943, in Bottineau, ND to August and Lillian (Brandt) Fitchner. He was raised and educated in Kramer, ND.

Harvey married Sandra Schei on January 5th, 1963 at Grace Lutheran Church in Bottineau, North Dakota. They made their home in Portal and raised four children. Harvey worked at Soo Line Railroad from 1961-1971. After the railroad he started at Norman G. Jensen Custom Brokers in 1971 until his retirement in 2006.

In Harvey's free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He was a member of the Reformed Church of USA in Upham.

His loving family includes: Wife of 62 years Sandra of Portal; son, Kevin (Meko) Fitchner of Portal; daughters, Tamra (Brad) Halverson of Flaxton, Carrie Fitchner and Fiancé Shawn Reynolds, of Chattanooga, and Lorie Fitchner of Portal; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; brother Adrian (Colleen) Fitchner of Minot.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marlyn (Lola) Fitchner.
