Obituary

Harold Vannett, 74, Minot, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in his residence.

Harold was born on October 6, 1942 to Clarence and Harriet (Gudmunson) Vannett in Minot, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1960. He continued his education at Minot State Teacher's College and earned his Bachelor of Science in education, music, and psychology in 1972. While studying at Minot State, Harold was employed at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company as a route salesman. He was also the assistant concert master for the Minot Symphony Orchestra for four years of which he was a member of until 1972.

Harold moved to Wyoming in 1973 and was employed by the state as a Health and Safety Technical Analyst. He was also employed as a substance abuse treatment counselor and in the oil fields. Additionally, he was a truck driver in several Midwest areas. In 1988, Harold attended Lesley Graduate School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1994, he moved to Nebraska and worked as a substance abuse counselor there. Harold relocated to Minot in 2000 and began working for Gudmunson Properties as a property manager until retiring in 2010.

Harold was formerly a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Minot, and served as a Boy Scout Master for five years.

Harold is survived by over thirty Vannett cousins including Claude, Larry and Rodney Vannett and Darlene Kolobakken and Gudmunson cousins, Sheldon (JoAnn) Gudmunson and their children, Andrew and Maari Gudmunson, and Gracia Pratt; Sandra (Joe) Cottrell, Myron Huettl and Nina (Jack) Mayo;

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, half-brothers, Delbert, Marvin, and Kenneth, half-sister, Sharon Bluhm, numerous aunts and uncles, and a special cousin, Wes Vannett.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Makoti, ND
Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Makoti or to Minot Vistas Baseball.
