Harold L. Kostenko, 85, Minot, formerly of Max, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 in a Minot Hospital.
Harold was born to Edward Maxmemko and Luba Kostenko on December 16, 1924 at Valley City, North Dakota. He was raised at Max, ND by his grandparents, Jack and Eva Kostenko. He graduated from Max high school in 1943, and in July of that same year, entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army. He honorably served his country during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre of the War in such areas as the Northern Solomon's, Philippines, New Guinea and the Western Pacific. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945.
Harold was united in marriage to Catherine Clouse on September 4, 1948 in Minot. He was employed with Hart Motor Express/BN Transport from 1946-1979 as a freight driver. He retired in 1981.
Harold held various offices with the local Teamsters Union. He and Catherine enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and many of the Provinces of Canada. He enjoyed woodworking and doing crafts.
His loving family includes : Wife: Catherine; Daughters: Barbara (Sandy) Meiers, Ross, ND, Susan (David) Baker, Minot, Jane (Tyler Bell) Kostenko, California, MD and Nancy (Jess) Robinson, Fairfax, VA; Grandchildren: Keith Meiers, Brandon (Kristen) Meiers, Charlotte (John) Napurski, Deirdre (John Constantine) Baker, Christopher Baker, Gil Robinson and Daniel Robinson; Great-Grandson: Lincoln Meiers; Half-sisters: Laureva (Clifford) Slavsky, Gresham, OR, Kay (Lloyd) Mickelson, Billings, MT; Half-brothers: Marshall (Leona) Stearns, Trotwood, OH, G.B. Stearns, Clearwater, FL.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Edith and grandson, Kyle Meiers.

: Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot;
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation
: At Harold's request, there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign a memorial register on Friday from Noon-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
