Obituary

Harley George Stroh, 82, Minot died on Wednesday November 16, 2011 in his home.

Harley was born on June 18, 1929 in Kearney, Nebraska to Henry and Laura (Crowell) Stroh. He was reared and educated in Kearney. Harley enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December of 1947 and served in the Korean Conflict and in China for eighteen months prior to honorable discharge in November of 1951. Following his discharge he was employed by Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach CA for nine years before returning to Nebraska in 1962.

Harley married Sylva Snurr on December 7, 1962 in Lexington, NE. They made their home in Lexington where he was employed as a carpenter. The family moved to Minot in 1965 where he owned and operated Stroh's Body Shop for fifteen years. He retired in 1988. Sylva died on October 9, 2001.

Harley was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Minot and the VFW organization and Eagles Aerie in Kearney for more than forty years. Also he was a member of the Velva American Legion Post. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Harley is survived by his daughter: Roxane Lay of Placentia, CA; sisters: Loretta Wheeley of Long Beach CA, Arlene Vinson of Meadowlakes TX and Delores Fuqua of Stanton CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

It was Harley's request that there be no services.

Memorials are preferred to All Saints Episcopal Church or the Velva American Legion Post.
