S. Grace Hagenstein,
90, Minot died on Saturday, April 23, 2011, in a Minot healthcare center.
Sarah Grace Hagenstein was born on April 13, 1921, near Des Lacs, ND to John and Sarah (Varnes) Soltis. She was reared on the family farm near Des Lacs and attended rural schools in that area prior to graduating from Foxholm High School in 1938. She continued her education at Trinity School of Nursing in Minot and graduated from there in 1942. As a young adult she was employed as a registered nurse at the San Haven Sanitarium near Dunseith and Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis until 1948.
Grace married A.D. "Buster" Hagenstein on December 5, 1948, in Minot. They made their home in Minot where Buster was the founder and President of Main Electric Inc. He died on June 2, 1971 and following his death Grace continued to live in Minot.
Grace was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Minot, where she was an elder and deacon, Past President of the United Presbyterian Women and a member of the Rebekah Circle. She was a member of PEO, American Legion Auxiliary, Republican Women, Women of the Moose and volunteered for the Red Cross. Her selfless commitment to serving others was recognized on April 24, 1989 when she became the recipient of the "Service To Mankind Award" from the Minot Sertoma Club. She especially enjoyed volunteer work and supporting her children in their activities. At age 74, she became richly blessed with the birth of her grandson, Abram. He was her pride and joy.
Grace's loving family includes her children: Mary Jo Hagenstein of White Bear Lake, MN, Alan Hagenstein and John (Pam) Hagenstein, both of Minot; grandson: Abram Hagenstein; sister: Mary (Walter) Cecil of Bowling Green, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Ed Soltis.

Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church - Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to the North Dakota Chapter of the American Diabetes Association or to First Presbyterian Church.
