Obituary

Gordon Dehnke, 88, Minot, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 in a Minot hospital.

Gordon was born June 14, 1926, in Ceylon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Gustof and Helena (Gust) Dehnke. He was brought up in Canada, attending rural schools near Ceylon until entering the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 17.

Following his honorable service, Gordon was employed in the mills of British Columbia for a time until he moved to the California in the late 1940's. He served as a carpenter; specializing in finish work until he found his calling as a steelworker in the mid 1950's. He worked throughout the United States and even found himself in Argentina and Greenland as he followed projects over the years.

Gordon married Livona Sanders at First Presbyterian Church in Minot on July 9, 1960. They made Minot their home, but he was often out on the road with his occupation. Summers were spent as family, with jobs playing a role in the location of the vacation. Gordon never missed Christmas with his family.

Allstate Tower Service began in 1983. Gordon and Livona along with their children have operated the business specializing in tower maintenance and tower setup.

Gordon was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot and the Local #512 Ironworker's Union. He was a devoted husband to his wife and loving father to his children and grandchildren. We will miss the hugs and the I Love You's.

His family includes his loving wife of 54 years, Livona Dehnke, Minot; son, Michael Dehnke, Minot; daughters, Lynda Dehnke and Janet (Paul) Franz, both of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Page and Julia Franz, Atlanta, GA; brother, Alvin (Phyllis) Dehnke, Weyburn, Saskatchewan; nieces, Bonnie Dehnke, Gail Dehnke and Rosemary Plantana.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Elizabeth Dehnke, sister, Alice Traves and a nephew, Dwight Malbauf.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Visitation: Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
