Gordon J. Berg, 88, Minot and formerly of the Bowbells area, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 in a Minot Hospital.
Gordon was born September 11, 1920 at Bowbells, North Dakota, the son of Ole and Ella (Adamson) Berg. He was raised on the family farm in Burke County and attended school at Bowbells. During his younger years, he assisted with the operation of the family farm and was united in marriage to Marion Lewis on November 19, 1946 at Minot.
They made their home on a farm in Carter Township of Burke County, near Bowbells, where they farmed throughout the years. They moved to Minot in 1960. Along with maintaining their farming interests, Gordon was employed at Northwest Clinic as the building superintendent and later with Trinity Medical Center with the plant operations department for several years. He retired in 1984. Marion died July 31, 1986.
Gordon enjoyed spending his free time doing farm work and was an excellent carpenter. He was a longtime member of Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot, where he served on the Church Council for a number of years and as a Trustee for several years.
His loving family includes : daughters, Janice (Arvid) Ness, Grafton, ND, JoAnn (Byron) Kerbaugh, Kenmare, ND; grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Ness and Matthew Ness; great-granddaughters, Niesha and Trinity; sister, Janet (Wayne) Clingman, Park River, ND, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marion, brothers, Oliver, Henry, Melvin and John and sister, Evelyn and special friends, Margaret Rosberg and Barbara Siemers.
Funeral service
: Thursday, April 23, 2009 - 2:00 p.m. in Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Wednesday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
