Gloria J. Emery, 65, Minot died Sunday March 31, 2019 in a Minot hospital with her family at her side.

Gloria J. Emery was born May 24, 1953 to Vernon and Clarice (Fleming) Haverluck in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating in 1971. She was employed for a time at Minot Headstart, the Tempo Department Store and Minot AFB Commissary.

She was united in marriage to Charles Emery on August 20, 1977 in Minot. Daniel, born August 10, 1982, joined the family September 29, 1982 through adoption. During Charles' military career, they were stationed in Minot until February 1987 when they transferred to the United Kingdom. They returned to Minot in December 1990 and have made Minot their home ever since. They enjoyed 41 years together.

Gloria was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to travel, especially to Walt Disney World. Gloria loved to spend numerous hours celebrating her love of Christ in a small Bible study group. Her major vice was a love of Starbucks Green Tea and Lemonade – NO Sweetener. She was a ferocious competitor at any board or card game (watch out for the flying cards when she lost!). The Vikings were her team, but caused her angst when they would choke at season's end. She kept a very organized home and don't dare mess the perfectly aligned towels. Red pepper flakes were generously applied to almost all foods. You could always find a packet "borrowed" from a pizza place. She thoroughly enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the zoo and sharing her love of animals or just taking an afternoon walk at the zoo with her husband. She "hated" her grandpuppies but would overserve them with cheese slices and Beggin Strips. She could be counted on to have a tin of chocolates in her purse at all times for the grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Charles, one son, Daniel (Trisha) Emery and their children, Avrey, Paxtyn, and Madisyn. Bismarck, ND, four brothers; Danny (Marsha) Haverluck, Peoria, AZ, Gordie (Shirley) Haverluck, Surrey, ND, Edward Haverluck, Grand Island, NB, Ernie (Tina) Newman, Logan, ND, four sisters; Mary Mosser, Minot, ND, Sue (Robert) Mosser, Minot, ND, Kim (Jerry) Kuntz, Ely, IA, Jody (Tim) Meckle, Minot, ND and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great nieces as well as a couple of great-great neices. She is also survived by many other numerous relatives and many, many special friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Life Service: 10:00 AM Thursday, April 4, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, April 3 2019, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: All monetary gifts will be given to "Make-A-Wish Foundation" for a trip to Disney World for a needy local youth in Gloria's name so they can experience the same joy she had there on numerous visits.
