Obituary

Glenn Ray Lokken, 67, Minot and rural McGregor, ND, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls, MN. This was preceded by an 8-year battle with Alzheimer\'s disease.

Glenn was born September 12, 1949 in Crosby, ND to Olaf and Elvira (Olson) Lokken. He was raised on the family farm near Noonan, educated at Noonan Schools and graduated from Noonan High School in 1967. He furthered his education at Minot State College, where he graduated in 1971 with a degree in mathematics and minor in psychology. He later received a master's degree in guidance counseling from Northern Arizona University in 1976.

Glenn was united in marriage to Betty L. Murphy on August 5, 1972 in Crosby. He enjoyed two parallel careers in farming and education. Throughout the years, he taught and served as administrator or guidance counselor at schools in Bowbells, Flaxton, Willow City, Wildrose-Alamo and Ray. He finished his career as a guidance counselor in Bottineau in 2005. Glenn continued to farm throughout the years on the family farm near McGregor.

Glenn and Betty moved to Minot in 2005, where they became members of Our Redeemers Lutheran Brethren Church. Glenn was a former member of Grace Lutheran Brethren Church, Bottineau, the Noonan Gun Club and Divide County Social Service Board. He served on church boards and as a Sunday school teacher. Glenn was an avid photographer and blessed many students with pictures he took throughout the years. He enjoyed target shooting, woodworking, traveling and spending time with family, especially their grandchildren.

His loving family includes, wife of 44 years, Betty; children, Eric (April) Lokken, Fergus Falls, MN, Jon (Jaclyn) Lokken, Crosby, ND; 4 grandchildren: Allison, Wyatt, Tobias and Elizabeth; siblings, Gordon (Larena) Lokken, Burlington, ND, Gerald (Janice) Lokken, Minot, Deborah (Phil) Price, Plymouth, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Olaf and mother, Elvira.

Funeral service : Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Redeemer's Church, Minot.

Graveside service : Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Hamlet, ND.

Visitation: Thursday, October 20th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer\'s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
