Obituary

Glen J. Emery, 98, 600 South Main St. - Minot, died Monday, August 28, 2006, in a Minot nursing home.

Glen was born on December 8, 1907, on a small farm near Zahl, ND, to Orton and Minnie (Bowker) Emery. He and his family resided in Zahl, near Williston. In 1926, he moved to Minot and was employed by International Harvester. On September 16, 1934, he married Sylvia Clott, and they were together for 67 years at the time of her death on July 31, 2004. They made Minot their home. Glen continued to work for International Harvester until 1963. Then, he went to work for Lindsay Brothers until his retirement in 1976.

Glen and Sylvia were active members in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. On February 28, 2002, Glen joined Sylvia at ManorCare, where they were together until her death. Even though they needed assistance, this time in their golden years was special for both of them.

Glen enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and farming from an early age when he was on the farm. This zest for life definitely continued, even as recent as last year when ManorCare selected him for the program, "Hearts Desire" . His wish was to go to the big lake at Garrison to fish. ManorCare made this possible for him. The last few months of his life, he became more and more interested in getting help for his sight and hearing loss. He was bothered greatly by his inability to read the newspaper and communicate with people. He wouldn't take no for an answer. Early Monday morning, August 28, 2006, he passed away in his sleep, awaiting the soon coming of the Lord.

He is survived by: Son: Wayne (Nina) Emery, Des Lacs, ND; Grandchildren: Kirt (Sally) Emery, Bodfish, CA, and DeLite Mullich, Encinitis, CA; Great Grandchildren: Kevin, Kyler, and Katie Emery, Bodfish, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Nellie Smith, Evelyn Ulrich, and Maude Burbach, and brothers, Melvin and Ralph Emery.
