Obituary

Gladys T. Peterson, 97, Minot formerly of rural Ryder, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in a Minot hospital.

Gladys was born February 17, 1912 to Peter and Marit (Dokken) Barsness on the family farm just east of Roseglen, in McLean County, ND. She was raised and received her formal education in a country school. As a young adult, she ran a boarding house in Roseglen for several years.

Gladys was united in marriage to Harry Peterson on August 13, 1934. They moved to a ranch located in Blue Hill Township, south of Ryder, ND, They raised Purebred Polled Hereford Cattle and grain farmed for 50 years until the death of her husband, Harry on January 16, 1985.

Gladys moved from the farm to Garrison, ND for a short time before settling in Minot, ND in December 1985. She became a resident of Brentmoor in 2005.

Gladys was a former member of the Roseglen Immanuel Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Church of Ryder. She is a current member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church in Minot.

(Gretchen) Stafslien, Jason Stafslien, Jennifer (Tyler) Nicholls, Summer Downs, Sierra Downs, Dillon Brandt, Delaney Brandt, Zack Emineth, Austin Emineth, Derrick Rasmussen, Nicole, Erica and Mandy Peterson, Wyatt Collard and Ella Peterson; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Kyler, Camden, Harper, Leighton, Shelby, Nate, Hayden, Cadance and Alexus and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Anna, Mabel and Judith and brothers, Oscar, Norman, Oswald, Palmer and Reuben Barsness.

Funeral service: Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Visitation: Saturday, February 13, 2010, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: Memorials are preferred to Our Redeemer's Christian School of Minot.
