Gladys C. Sorensen, 91, Bismarck, formerly of Minot, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 in a Bismarck Nursing Care Center.

Gladys was born February 27, 1918 at Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Christ and Magda (Buch) Lund. She was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot Model High School in 1935. She attended Minot Business College and the Minot Business Institute.

Gladys was united in marriage to Daniel Sorensen on August 16, 1951 at Miles City, Montana.

They made their home in Minot, where she was employed as the office manager for John Iverson Company for 27 years. She then worked at Dan's Plumbing and Heating, helping with her husband's business until retiring in 1982. Dan died April 27, 1999. Gladys moved to Bismarck in 2000 to be nearer her daughter and family.

Gladys was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, sang with the Church Choir, and was active with the Women's Circle group. She also sang with the local women's group, Sweet Adelines. She and Dan enjoyed spending their summers at their cabin at Lake Metigoshe for many years. She enjoyed making quilts and was an excellent cook.

Her loving family includes : daughter, Chris (Steve) Lunn, Bismarck; grandson, Jeremy Lunn, San Francisco, CA; sister: June Campbell, La Crescenta, CA; three nieces and one nephew.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Daniel, sister, Lillian and step-son, Erik.

Funeral service: Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot;
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot;
Visitation: Wednesday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to Metigoshe Ministries, Christ Lutheran Church or an organization of the donor's choice.
