Gladys Irene Lakoduk, 90, Fargo, formerly of Butte, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in a Fargo Hospital.
Gladys was born October 23, 1920, in Byersville Township rural Butte, North Dakota the daughter of Knute and Lydia (Krause) Norberg. She was the second oldest of four sisters. She was raised and educated at country schools near Butte and graduated from Butte High School with honors in 1938.
Gladys was united in marriage to Eddy Lakoduk September 2, 1938, at Minot. Their union was a long and loving one with deep affection and trust. They made their home throughout the years at Butte and Fargo. At retirement they enjoyed spending winters in California and summers at their lake home in Minnesota.
Gladys was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butte, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was active with the Church ladies circle group. She was a member of a Butte Homemakers Club. Gladys enjoyed traveling, music, reading and gardening, especially caring for her flowers. Even in her later years she would tend her gardens for hours. She loved all things beautiful.
Gladys' loving family includes: her husband of seventy-two years, Eddy; sons, Larry Lakoduk, Carlsbad, CA, and James (Linda) Lakoduk, Fargo, ND; 7 Grandchildren, Kim (Mark) Rudrud, Minneapolis, MN, Tammy (David) Zigrang, Todd Lakoduk and Jay Lakoduk, all of Carlsbad, CA, Melony (Jay) Taylor, Detroit Lakes, MN, Melissa Swanson, Fargo, Nicholas Lakoduk, Minneapolis, MN; 11 Great-Grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney and Lauren Lakoduk, Carlsbad, CA, Madeleine, Julia and James Taylor, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Benjamin, Brooke and Sienna Swanson, Fargo, Kalie and Tanner Zigrang, Carlsbad, CA; Sisters, Evelyn Freeberg, McClusky, ND, Ruth Ryckman, Linton, ND, and Dorothy (Ken) Stuberg, Leeds, ND; several wonderful nieces, nephews and many dear cousins.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Audrey.
Funeral service:
Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butte.
Interment:
Butte Community Cemetery, Spring 2011 with date and time to be determined.
Visitation:
Sunday from Noon-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
