Gladyce "Happy" Romine, 81, Minot, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in a Minot Hospital.
Gladyce was born January 16, 1932 at Rugby, North Dakota, the daughter of Warren and Helen (Anderson) Williams. She was raised at Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Rod Romine on June 17, 1951 in Rugby.
Happy attended North Dakota State University in Fargo and Minot State College, where she earned a standard teaching certificate. She taught at rural schools near Minot for three years. Along with raising their two daughters, she also worked at Minot State as a secretary for the Division of Humanities for 25 years. She retired in 1994.
Happy was a longtime member of Vincent United Methodist Church, where she was active as a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Church Choir.
Her loving family includes, husband of 61 years, Rod; daughters, Renee (Clint) Hermanson, Minot, Risa (Jeff) Kanavas, Redlands, CA; grandchildren, Libby Parks, Minot, Brook Hermanson, Minot, Kyle & Nick Kanavas, both of Redlands, CA; great-granddaughter, Emily Parks; sister, Darlene (John) O'Connell, Hemet, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Happy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ray and Walter "Bud" Williams.
Funeral service:
Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
Intermen
t: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Rural Mandan, ND.
Visitation
: Monday from 2:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials:
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials to the MSU Beaver Booster Club or Vincent Methodist Church Foundation.
