Gilbert Augustus Hughson, Jr., 68, Stanley, died Monday May 16, 2016 in an Ellendale Nursing Home.

Gilbert was born August 22, 1947 at Orange County, Florida, the son of Augustus Sr. and Iva May (Brown) Hughson. He was raised and educated in Florida and graduated from high school there. Gilbert entered into active duty service with the U.S. Navy, where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War, until receiving his honorable discharge on August 4, 1965.

Gilbert returned to Florida, where he furthered his education at the Seminole Community College and received a degree in law enforcement. He worked as a police officer in Florida for seven years. He then became a bus driver for the City of Tampa and later drove Grayline Buses as a charter bus driver in the Orlando area for a number of years.

Gilbert was united in marriage to Patricia Kirby on May 9, 1990. They made their home in the Boston, MA area in 1999, where he worked as a route driver for MRTA. They moved to the Stanley area in 2014 to be nearer family.

Gilbert was a member of the Teamster's local union and loved to draw, paint and sketch.

Gilbert's loving family includes , wife, Patricia Hughson, Stanley, ND; daughter, Penny Harper, North Carolina; step-children, Scott (Tina) Maghakian, Stanley, ND, Michael Maghakian, Massachusetts, Michelle Maghakian, Orlando, FL; 7 grandchildren to include, Craig, Tyler, Timothy, Michael Jr., Piper, Taylor, and Samantha.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, son, William, grandson, Daniel and two sisters.

Memorial service : Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maghakian Family residence located at #2 Valley Drive, Stanley, ND.
