Gerrold Glenn Miller, 70, Minot, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his home.
Gerrold was born January 13, 1947 at Noonan, North Dakota, the son of Vernon and Edith (Hassler) Miller. He was raised at Noonan, prior to his moving to Devils Lake where he attended the School for the Deaf in 1952. In addition to learning sign language, he was active in football, basketball and track. He graduated in 1968 and continued his education in St. Paul, Minnesota at the TVI Trade School for Auto Body work.
Gerrold completed his education in 1971 and returned to Minot to work at the John Moses Air Force Hospital for a short time. He continued his employment at the Minot Air Force Base doing civil service work in the painting and lawncare departments for over 27 years until he was injured. He worked a short time at the Holiday Inn in housekeeping and later at Tires Plus as their courtesy driver.
Gerrold was a member and active in the deaf ministry at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Minot. He had gone on a mission trip to Nicaragua with a large group of the deaf community in 2006. He was active in the racing community, often attending the NoDak Speedway events on the weekends. Gerrold was a special friend to many.
Gerrold is survived by his brother, Vernon (Mary) Miller, Kerrville, Texas; Aunts: Ellen Fargerland, Minot, ND and Evelyn Hagen, Crosby, ND; nephews: Lonnie (Becky) Miller, Livingston, MT and Shane Miller, North Highlands, CA; cousins: Maxine Fagerland, Karen (Darrell) Losing, Ron (Georgia) Fagerland, Dale (Judith) Fagerland, Jim (Janet) Fagerland, Eileen (Eugene) Berg, Stan (Gin) Fagerland, Melody (Tom) Baker, Ralph (Suzanne) Hassler, Darold (Sue) Hassler, Jim (Brenda) Hassler, Gloria (John) Tolar and Wayne (Peggy) Hassler.
Gerrold was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life Service
: Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Redeemers Church, Minot.
Visitation
: Wednesday, July 5th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In Lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials be designated to the Our Redeemer's Deaf Ministry Fund.
