Gerda Helen Polsfut , 91, Bismarck, formerly of Minot and rural Max, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in her home.
Gerda was born December 16, 1916 on the family farm south of Sawyer, North Dakota, the daughter of Gustav and Helen (Marschall) Krueger.She was raised and educated near Sawyer and united in marriage to Leonhardt "Leo" Polsfut on October 22, 1933 at Sawyer.
Gerda and Leo made their home on a farm southeast of Max, where they raised their family and farmed throughout the years.They moved to Minot in 1976.
Gerda was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Max, where she was active with the Women's Circle groups and taught Sunday school. After moving to Minot, they transferred their membership to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Leo died May 19, 1995.Gerda had lived at Edgewood Vista in Minot for thirteen years,before moving to Bismarck in 2007.
Gerda enjoyed going on long walks, visiting with her children and grandchildren along with gardening.
Her loving family includes : Children: Allen (Sheri) Polsfut, Bismarck; Lorraine (Marvin) Berg, Ruso, ND, Betty (Wilbur) Root, Great Bend, KS, Diane (Don) Kihn, Ellsworth, KS; a number of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister: Dorothy Eddy, Ramsey, IL, along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gerda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, David Brewer Jr., infant sister, Martha, sister: Hilda Faul, brothers, Paul, Awald, Edwin, Oswald, Waldo and Reinhold "Jack" Krueger and Son-in-law, David Brewer.
Funeral service
: Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11:00a.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment
: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
Visitation:
Friday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot or organization of the donor's choice.
