Geraldine Ann LaHaise , 74, Minot and formerly of the Grafton area died on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in a Minot hospital.
Geraldine was born on April 18, 1942 in Grafton, ND to Michael and Theodosia (Bishop) Altendorf. She was reared and educated in Acton Township, ND, attended school at a Convent in Warsaw, ND and Grafton High School. As a young adult, she was employed as a nurse's aide at the Grafton Hospital.
Geraldine married Duane LaHaise on June 27, 1961 in Warsaw, ND. They made their home in Grafton where Duane owned and operated the Conoco Gas Station for two years. They lived in Grand Forks for three years prior to moving to Minot in 1965, where Geraldine was employed as a housekeeper for various families and businesses and a Banquet Server for the Holiday Inn in the Minot area. Most recently, she resided at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison due to illness. She retired in 2010. Duane passed away on May 20, 2014.
Geraldine was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and a neighborhood birthday club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Holidays were her favorite, as she loved decorating the house. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and spending time at the cabin on Strawberry Lake.
Geraldine's loving family includes her children: Barbara (Bruce) Jensen, Timothy "Tim" (Jodi) LaHaise, Constance "Connie" LaHaise and Christine "Crissy" (Richard) Buechler all of Minot; grandchildren: Kristen (Lee) Weltikol, Stephanie Jensen, Danielle Pennington, Miranda Perdue, and Karl Buechler; 5 great grandchildren: sister: Leona Grzadzieleski of Grafton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother's: Alfred Altendorf (died in infancy) and Florian Altendorf, and sister: Florence Stancyk, and nephew: Joseph Grzadzieleski.
Visitation: Friday, November 4, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church - Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Friday, November 4, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church - Minot.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.
Memorials are preferred to The Alzheimer's Association and Special Olympics.
