Obituary

Geraldine Constance Anderson , 94, Minot, formerly of the Glenburn area, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Geraldine was born September 11, 1922 at Lansford, North Dakota, the daughter of Iver and Esther (Zietz) Roen. She was raised and educated in Lansford Township, prior to graduating from Lansford High School in 1941. She attended Minot State Teacher's College for a year and earned her Teaching Certificate. She taught at Ivanhoe Township, Elms Township School and Waterford Township schools for several years prior to her marriage to Allen Anderson on February 15, 1946.

Geraldine and Allen made their home in Minot for a short time, prior to moving to the Anderson Family farmstead in Waterford Township, where they farmed throughout the years and raised their three children. Allen died September 18, 1995. She continued to live on the farm until moving into Minot in 2004. She had been a resident of Brentmoor Assisted Living Center for 12 years, until moving to Trinity Homes in January of 2017.

Geraldine was a former member of Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Glenburn, where among many other things she taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School and also served on the Altar Guild. She was past treasurer for the Waterford Township Board. She was also a member of Merry Farmerettes Homemakers Club, Farmer's Union and participated for several years with the Glenburn Flower show. She enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling, music, including playing the organ, and gardening, especially flowers.

Geraldine's loving family includes , children, Cheryl (Richard) Speisman, Rochester, NY, Robert (Carol) Anderson, Minot, Susan Fair, Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Sean (Sarah) Anderson, Tonya (Kevin) Heilman, Michael (Michelle) Speisman, Amy (Matt) Konow, Chris Fair and Don Fair; great grandchildren, Kayla & Marina Konow, Kessler, Ashton & Kasen Heilman, Luke, Jordan & Karah Anderson and Noah Speisman; sisters-in-law, Nora Roen, Hudson, WI, Joan Roen, Dubuque, IA & Ella Anderson, Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; brothers, Darrold and Duane Roen; and son-in-law, Joseph Fair.

Funeral service: Monday, May 1, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, April 30th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials be designated to Our Savior Lutheran or an organization of the donor\'s choice.
